Description

Greetings You know, i feel like all the pictures in my gallery have just the purpose of earning money and also making me improve in skills and technics. (Ok not all of them)Greetings

But for now i'm in some kind of an artist's block, and i really think that the reasons for it are the two above.
I'm talking about that because yesterday i had a look at my "very old school subjects", it was funny to see how much i improved for the last years, but there was another side of the coin :

It's about "telling a story".
When i was younger, i mean like 11 years old, i was already drawing stuffs, it was technically terrible of course, and obviously i wasn't earning money for it...
Now, i'm pretty sure most of the people on DA know what i mean if i'm talking about "old child drawing with so much damn thing happening on the paper"

I used to draw like hundreds of drawing like this, for example i drew soldiers fighting against dinosaurs, with planes smashing on them, with bombs and mines exploding everywhere, with a volcano that is about to explode and scientists on it trying to find out what's happening, with a lake with boats on it, with so much interaction between each characters that you never know where it stops! And with absolutely not a f*ck given to the color theory, trees are brown and green, water is blue, fire is yellow and orange etc...
(i need to find these drawings and i really hope my mother did not put it to rubbish...)

--------------------------------

The biggest difference right now is that, maybe, i've been too much busy thinking about getting better at drawing, and i almost forgot about telling a story that will give sense to the picture!
While, damn it, this is the best part of being a graphic artist, it's about creating something that just poped up in your mind, you can do absolutely what you want and with no limitations, i cannot imagine what it's like to be an animator (making things move and speak and do stuffs!!)

Soooo, why am i writing about this?
Maybe because i think this is some kind of a reminder for those who are in a artist's block, and also because i'm one of them ^^, and this reminder is mostly for me, and it's my DA personal page so i do what i want haha :happybounce:

So i guess i'm gonna take my super sketchbook and go for an epic warzone drawing like when i was 11 ^^.

And still, there is also a lot of things to do about an artist's block, and here is a site with some tips to beat it : painting.about.com/cs/inspirat…
(I just disagree with the first one...)
